Korean Age vs International Age:
In international age perspective, a child is born with an age of 0year and he/she turns 1 year old on his/her birthday but Koreans have different criteria for it. According to Koreans, a newborn baby is of 1 year and a year is added to their age on every 1st of January. So, it means, Korean age changes on 1st of January, every year and for everybody. Is not that bizarre? Just imagine if any a baby is born on 29th December, he would be of 1 year at that time and within 3 days the baby would turn 2 years old. Wow!

In western culture, it is a taboo to ask the age of any person, especially asking the females but Korean asks the age within the first few minutes of conversation. This is because, there are levels of politeness in Korean culture and they use different words to communicate with elders, same age person and the younger ones. - Add 1 into your current, if your birthday has passed in this year.
- Add 2 into your current age, if your birthday has not passed yet.
