The Pakistan Council of Research in Water Resources (PCRWR) has alarmed that the country could run dry by 2025.
Researchers predict that in the coming 2040 years, Pakistan will be most water-stressed of the era. In Addition, The International Monetary Fund (IMF) ranked the Third country facing acute water storage. Previously, In 1990 PCRWR reported that Pakistan touched the “water stress line” as well as crossed the “water scarcity line” in 2005. Things are getting serious and dangerous for humanity. Pakistan has the world’s fourth-highest rate of water use this means Pakistan is suffering most water-intensive.
In this serious condition, people are unaware of this alarming situation of Water Crises. Most of Pakistan’s farmland is irrigated through a canal system but now this does not recover and maintain the land. Approximately 95% of water is used for agriculture. the Future, Still, We have no grantee how to survive without water. Our upcoming generation will face a lot of problems related to water, population, and lack of needs.
Still, cities like Karachi, Sibi, Larkana are the hottest and suffering water crises. As the population is rapidly increasing, demand is also increasing which is becoming impossible to manage.
Raising Funds: Making DAM
The Tarbela and Mangla dams are the two major water reservoirs of the country, which recently reached their “dead” levels.
Every year Pakistan receives around 145 million acre-feet of water but can only save 13.7 million acre-feet. Pakistan needs 40 million acre-feet water. However, 29 million acre-feet of our floodwater are wasted because we don’t have storage, and have few dams. Currently, there was a new update that how the government will tackle this crisis. The current Prime Minister Imran Khan has a planned strategy to overcome this problem. We all should not lose hope. Rasing a funding scheme, imposing taxes and taking donations from external countries. Making a new Dam! According to the strategy $14 billion needed for installing water reservoirs.
