Kashmir is not a new story of the miserable lives of Muslims but it is one of the numerous stories where specifically, Muslims are being targeted. Since the partition of 1947, this disputed land has witnessed three wars, and still, it is waiting for another. What exactly is ‘Kashmir Issue’ and what can be its possible solutions? Scrapped Article 370:

Article 370 was an important article of the Constitution of India. Under this article, the people of Jammu and Kashmir were allowed to have a separate constitution for their state and the disputed land was completely exempted from the applicability of India’s constitution.

Well, Article 370 is abolished now to solve the ‘Kashmir Issue’ and India has deployed more troops in Jammu and Kashmir to get the hold over the disputed land. Moreover, the people of Jammu and Kashmir will be governed under Indian law as Indian citizens.

Further, Article 35-A provides some special privileges to the permanent residents of India and accordingly, the people of Jammu and Kashmir would be given those special privileges. Here, the question arises whether Kashmiris want to be treated as Indian citizens?

The Situation of Muslims in Jammu and Kashmir:

The answer to the above question is, ‘No!’ Instead, the people of Jammu and Kashmir want independence just like Pakistan and India. They are fed of these daily killings and tortuous life. In addition, the females are not safe there and are facing sexual harassment, every day. Above all, Indian troops are now using pellet shotguns which are causing mass blinding. Still, the world and the Muslim states are silent but how long we would stay silent?

Imposed Curfew:

Since 1947, Kashmiris never felt safe in the disputed land and now, it has become even more difficult to survive there. Their fears turned right on 5 August 2019 when India’s Government imposed a curfew. Apart from this, it banned the groups of more than four to assemble in the disputed area. Later on, Kashmiris faced a shutdown of every communication medium including telephone lines and the internet, etc.

Soon after these preparations, the Indian government announced the abolishment of Article 370. What’s the message behind it? Without a doubt, Modi is planning to annex the Kashmir without considering the wants of Kashmiris.

No Eid-ul-Azha:

Eid-ul-Azha is a Muslim festival which is knocking at the door. Normally, Muslims celebrate this festival by sacrificing the animals and distributing meat among relatives, friends and the needy ones. Sadly, it seems, this Eid-ul-Azha is not for Kashmiris because they are not allowed to purchase animals to sacrifice. If this is not terrible for you then I have many other stories from Kashmir.

Restricted Vehicle Movement:

The apple industry makes a huge contribution to the state’s revenues and we all know it’s shelve life is no longer enough to delay its delivery to the stores. Despite knowing the fact, the Indian government is not allowing movement of the vehicles on the highway. As a result, it is not only affecting the business in Jammu and Kashmir but is affecting the consumers too.

Shortage of Food:

The people of Jammu and Kashmir had stored food in their homes but now, their saved stock is finishing too. Also, the roads coming to the Kashmir valley are blocked. Ultimately, the stores of Kashmir do not have enough food to sell to the Kashmiris. Therefore, people are not only dying from bullets but from hunger too. Do the Palestine people get enough food?

The Police not Helping the Kashmiris:

Another story is of a father, Sheikh Mushtaq of 55years, whose daughter and her friends were forced to leave university near Jammu. Now, it’s been days and girls are not home yet. The father told the news reporter that he talked to police and civil administration of the area but they informed that they cannot find the girls. No one knows, where are those girls, either they are in Jammu are sent elsewhere.

Kashmir has not only lost its son but many daughters in this not ending war. What’s the role of Pakistan in this ‘Kashmir Issue’?

Pakistan’s Response on Kashmir Issue:

According to recent news, Pakistan’s Military spokesman said,

“Pakistan never recognized the sham Indian efforts to legalize its occupation of Jammu and Kashmir through article 370 or 35-A decades ago”.

Further General Qamar Javed Bajwa said,

“Pakistan Army firmly stands by the Kashmiris in their just struggle to the very end. We are prepared and shall go to any extent to fulfill our obligations in this regard”.

Moreover, the Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi said,

“Pakistan has not just rejected this step, we have condemned it”.

At this moment, the statements of Prime Minister of Pakistan is far important that how he looks into this ‘Kashmir Issue’. Pakistan PM, Imran Khan said,

“Pakistan will protest Indian move on change India-administrated Kashmir’s status at UN Security Council”.

In addition, he said,

“We are thinking of how we can go to the International Court of Justice through the UN Security Council… We will raise this issue at every forum”.

Both of these statements clarify the stance of Pakistan’s PM, Imran Khan. Further, he stated,

“Nuclear-arm India and Pakistan have fought two of their three wars over the disputed territory of Kashmir, which both claim in full but administer separate portions of. I am not using nuclear blackmail, I am using my common sense. We appeal to the world if the world does not do anything now, it will have serious consequences”.

Apart from this, Pakistan is contacting Muslim states to unite their powers and stand against ‘Kashmir Issue’. ‘Kashmir Issue’ is not only of a disputed territory but for humanity. The Indian government is only targeting Muslims of Kashmir after scrapping Article 370 which means this may come under the term, ‘Genocide’. Therefore, the world needs to end its silence and the Muslim states should become the voice of Kashmiris.

Why ‘Kashmir Issue’ is Becoming Severe?

Recently, Pakistan’s PM, Imran Khan visited the USA and met Donald Trump. They had talked to resolve ‘Kashmir Issue’ and asked if the USA becomes the mediator in the process. On the other hand, India did not appreciate this act and is trying to get its hold on disputed land, illegally and unethically.

In addition, Pakistan is playing a pivotal role in the Afghanistan peace talks. Eventually, Pakistan is getting positive attention on the international level which is improving the soft image of Pakistan. So, Donald Trump agreed to mediate between Pakistan and India to eradicate the ‘Kashmir Issue’.

From the beginning, India is claiming the ‘Kashmir Issue’ is merely a domestic issue but it would not stay domestic anymore when the world would take part in it to resolve it. Already, the UN had proposed a solution for ‘Kashmir Issue’ to conduct a referendum. After this, the result should be implemented for the peace of Kashmir and its people.

What Could Be the Solution of ‘Kashmir Issue’?

Once, PM of India, Inder Kumar Gujral said, “We cannot take Kashmir by force, and you cannot give it peacefully; we have to find a way to span the distance”.

Later General Musharaf proposed a solution for ‘Kashmir Issue’, famously known as ‘Musharaf’s The Four Point Formula or The Chenab Formula’. According to that:

Demilitarize the disputed area or withdraw the troops from that area in phases.
The people of Jammu and Kashmir can move freely across the Line of Control.
There will be self-governance but without independence.
There will be a joint supervision mechanism by Pakistan and India in Jammu and Kashmir.

Here, all of the four points are acceptable and in favor of India, Pakistan and most importantly, for Kashmir.

Other than this, Kashmiris should get a chance to decide their fate. As per the US proposal and 3^rd June Plan, a plebiscite should be held to know what Kashmiris want. Now, this referendum should be mandated by the UN to give respect to International law.
