Coronavirus or Covid-19

Coronavirus or Covid-19 is a viral disease that transmits from person to person. There are two types of Covid-19 infection. One is mild, whereas, other is severe. In mild cases, the patients recover within a few days or weeks, On the other hand, the recovery rate in the severe cases are quite low. Currently, there is no vaccine available for this disease. The only way to tackle the issue is by not getting intact from it. Mild cases can be recovered easily by using over the counter medicines. The patients don’t need to be hospitalized. The covid-19 situation in Pakistan

In Pakistan, the Covid-19 situation is getting worse day by day. The first case of Coronavirus was discovered on 26th February. Within a period of 4 months, the Covid-19 cases surge over 100,000 in Pakistan. Currently, there are 103,671 cases that have been reported so far in Pakistan. Among this number, 34,355 covid patients have recovered and the total number of deaths is 2,067. There are 67,249 active cases in Pakistan.

The number has increased a lot since the government has lifted the lockdown on 9th May. After the occasion of Eid, the graph of the Covid Patients has increased exponentially. On daily basis, there are over 4000 cases of Coronavirus. Moreover, the number is also getting higher. Well, who is responsible of this?. I would say we all are responsible for this outbreak. Some countries like China have controlled the outbreak.

Reason for over 100,000 Corona cases in Pakistan

The first blame for this outbreak goes on our population. Pakistan is a developing country, the literacy rate among people is low. In addition to this, there is also an awareness issue among people. Most of the people have in their mind that the Coronavirus is a bluff and it is a strategy by the government. In addition to this, people don’t follow the standard operating procedures that have issued by the government.

I would also like to mention that the decision of lifting the lockdown by the government was wrong. The result is in front of us. Turkey and other countries lifted the lockdowns when they saw a decline in the coronavirus cases, whereas, we lifted the lockdown when the graph of Coronavirus patients was going up. The government also opened the amusement Parks recently which is also a bad decision. The SOP that has been issued by the government is not followed by the people. Moreover, there is no effective check and balance on them as well.

As mentioned earlier that our people are mostly illiterate. Most of them are unaware of the current situation. They don’t maintain social distance or wear a facemask. On the Eid day, we have seen a lot of crowds on the streets and in the market. People were enjoying in this disastrous situation. This is also one of the main reasons for the surge of 100,000 Covid cases in Pakistan.

How can we still tackle this issue

Its never too late, there are still some of the ways through which we can tackle this issue. The government and we people must work together to tackle the novel Coronavirus issue. The strategy of the government for fine upon not wearing facemask is great. However, the government should increase the check and balance on the rules and regulations. Moreover, if possible the lockdown must also be imposed again. Rather lockdown, the curfew will be more effective. Heavy fines must be imposed on the shopkeepers that are not following the SOPs.

On the other hand, individuals must also maintain social distance and must wear the facemask. This facemask reduces the chances of getting Covid infection.  In addition to this, people must also avoid going into public gatherings or in crowded places. There are more chances of getting intact to the novel coronavirus in crowded places. Furthermore, you should wash your hands again and again for at least 20 seconds. If you are in the market, avoid touching your face, eyes, nose, or ears.
