10TH MUHARRAM IS ISLAM

Muharram is the starting month of the Muslim calendar and has its great importance in Islam. The importance is due to several events that occurred in this month and all of those events are for Muslims to seek guidance and better themselves. Let’s learn from those events and evaluate ourselves.

10TH MUHARRAM IS ISLAM

10th Muharram Events:

  1. Hazrat Adam A.S

We all know that how the life of Hazrat Adam A.S started on earth with his wife (If you are not aware of the whole story, you may find it in Surah e Baqarah). There was no one but Allah who helped Hazrat Adam A.S to learn how to ask for forgiveness. He did not know the verses to communicate but Allah taught him the way to ask for His mercy. Then, Hazrat Adam A.S used to spend more time praying and was guilty of what he had committed, innocently.  Finally, Allah accepted his apology on 10 Muharram and Hazrat Adam A.S’s prayers were answered.

It teaches us that we as a human being can commit sins but there is always the way to repent and ask Allah for His mercy. Above all, Allah is always there for us to listen and guide us to the straight path. Additionally, it is never late to repent and change yourself because Allah loves those who return back to Him.

  1. Hazrat Idrees A.S

Allah has mentioned Hazrat Idrees A.S two times in Quran because of his constancy and patience. Due to his sincerity, Allah raised him to forth heaven/sky where his soul was seized. So, we learned that the moment of death and the place of death are already decided by Allah and He has control over our every movement.

On that day, Hazrat Idrees A.S himself asked the angel to carry him to the angel of death, so that he can ask him the meaning of a revelation. On the other hand, the angel of death was astonished that how he would seize the soul of Hazrat Idrees A.S on fourth heaven. This portrays that Allah is always there to help His sincere servants and no doubt, Allah has the best plan to do so.

  1. Hazrat Noah A.S

Allah sent Prophets time to time to guide the mankind but a few people actually followed them. Hazrat Noah A.S was one His messengers and he built an Arch upon Allah’s command to move away with the believer. So, he took the believers and pair of every species with him on the arch, leaving the non-believers behind. As a result, the flood drowned the non-believers who used to disobey Allah and his messenger.

Hazrat Ibrahim A.S was sent to the people of Babylon who were the idol worshippers; even the father of Hazrat Ibrahim A.S was a non-believer. However, Hazrat Ibrahim A.S never stepped back and remained a firm believer but the people of Babylon planned to burn Hazrat Ibrahim A.S. So, on 10Muharram, Hazrat Ibrahim A.S was chained and was put in the fire by the King Nimrod. Hazrat Jibrael A.S came to Hazrat Ibrahim A.S and asked what he wishes for. Hazrat Ibrahim A.S just wished that Allah be pleased with him. What happened next?

Allah saved Hazrat Ibrahim A.S from the fire and the fire turned cool. Only the chains were melted in the fire and Hazrat Ibrahim A.S stepped out of the fire, safely. Generally, we think that our problems are bigger and we surrender to the authorities. Contradictory to this, Hazrat Ibrahim A.S believed in Allah as the supreme authority and did everything to please Him. So, where do we lie?

  1. Hazrat Mosa A.S

Allah has mentioned Hazrat Mosa A.S several times in the Quran who was born during the time of King Firon. His followers were oppressed by King Firon and they were compelled to leave their houses. Hazrat Mosa A.S asked his followers to leave Palestine and accordingly, they left at night. When King Firon came to know about it, he followed the group with his army and tried to contain them. Alternatively, Allah had another plan and He made a way in the Sea for the believers to escape.

  1. Hazrat Imam Hussain R.A

Hazrat Muhammad PBUH was a seal on prophethood and Hazrat Imam Hussain R.A belonged to that noble family. His personality was developed under the best of the Islam practicers. Accordingly, he did in the Battleground of Karbala. Every year, Muslims recall his sacrifices for Islam.

Firstly, Karbala is the lesson for the Muslims to strongly believe in Allah, and even sacrifice your life, wealth and family for the cause. Secondly, Hazrat Imam Hussain R.A left his home to help the Muslims of Kufa. So, what about Kashmiris nowadays? Aren’t they Muslims or aren’t we Muslims to help them. There are many Muslim countries in the world but they are not uniting to speak up as a MUSLIM UMMAH for our Kashmiri people. What have we learned from Karbala then? It is a bitter reality that we can come out of our houses for Hazrat Imam Hussain R.A but cannot act according to his teachings.

Thirdly, the Muslim army did not skip their prayer in the battleground. They took a break from the battle to offer their prayers and we make excuses to delay it. What are your excuses to delay your prayers?

Fourthly, the women played a vital role in this event. The mothers prepared their sons to go for Jihad and serve for Islam but what about today’s mothers? Last but not least, the women were concerned about their Parda but it does not mean that they were not confident. Hazrat Zainab R.A’s sermon in Damascus was commendable and has much to teach all of us.

There are many other messages from the Karbala event but how many of us are really acting upon those messages?
